True story: My junior high chorus teacher’s husband was successful in business to some degree. About 6-7 years ago, he was driving his 2003 SRT/10 convertible on the highway in a misting rain, lost control and hit one of these center barriers perpendicular. The wire rode up the hood then then windshield, then into the cabin and killed him.

Doug was never alive, he is a figment of our collective imagination.

I watched this and at the very end I realized I was on that very on-ramp this morning. Weird.
A buddy of mine crashed his Harley in that intersection last summer. He was coming from the right and the car in front of him (going the same direction) stopped and he rear ended it. He launched himself over the car into the road right where the viper turned left. Somehow he managed to not seriously injure himself, even with no helmet.

Wide (large contact patch to weight ratio) UHP (minimal tread, compound that needs some temperature in it to stick well) tires = you’re fucked in the rain.

A similar thing happened in Michigan just a few years ago:

Those cable barriers are scary stuff.

It's a (for all intents and purposes) street legal race car; use it in ideal conditions or prepare for the ramifications.

I mean, even my Miata does that in the rain. It doesn’t take a whole lot to get a RWD car with an LSD and no stability control loose when it's wet out. It has to be downright scary though with that much power.
